If they're invading Ukraine then Ukraine have the right to do same back, it's diverting resources from other areas so hurting Russia. I suspect the F-16 deployments have been a huge confidence booster for Ukraine My only concern was that one of the conditions of supplying weaponry by the West was that it was only used in defence. When the next round of supply comes will America use this as an excuse to cut supply? I hope not |

IIRC they have cleverly avoided using key western made weaponry in the offences, hence why the USA is not protesting

I dont think any country has the right to invade another country , but as we know there is a bigger game being played here , but let me emphasise this still doesn't give Putin the right to invade. I just have little time for brit nats like vinny , and their hypocrisy over Ukraine and many other places around the world. This is the guy who criticises the Putin dictator , while at the same time , wants to ride roughshod over Scottish irish and welsh democracy , abolish our democratically elected parliament , that we voted for by referendum , and even go as far as abolish Scottish irish and welsh sports teams and crush them under the heel of British imperialism , while moaning about Putin doing the same. Its fucking laughable. I think dappy made a comment on here yesterday that I liked about the perception of Britain being some fantasy imperial power whom the world hangs on their every word , while in reality , the British are just rockets for the Americans. on a wider note , you can see why powers like Russia feel able to invade with impunity , when the so called western rules based international order is such a laughable state . Vinny's mentality epitomises this in action. invading colonising and terrorising countries are all bad , not selectively bad. The irish were remembering only yesterday how it was 372 years ago the English parliament in westminster passed the settlement of ireland act , the greatest act of ethnic cleansing in early modern Europe. Vinny's response would be to scream stop moaning....you are British!!!!! Totally lacking in any self awareness and how Putin is doing many things similar to the Ukrainians as the Russians have elsewhere. |

One of the awful things in this war is the demonisation of completely innocent Russians who want no part in what's going on, nearly all Russians I've ever met are really nice people and they don't even (mostly) approve of what Putin is doing, yet they are being "cancelled" as an entire people and culture because .. their govt believes x
Yet, we're told, when you have it in for Chinese people then you must be racist against the Chinese, but for Russians it's a different standard
It is basically racist against Russians and I resent it very much given all the wonderful Russian people I know, have known, and have met in my life

Sad and fascinating history and map, thanks, having looked that up this shed more light on it for me (I'm posting this for other members here of course): historica.fandom.com/wiki/Cromwellian_conquest_of_IrelandMy wife is actually majority Irish by ethnicity, we do hope to spend some real time there one day soon, maybe we'll even track down ultra distant relatives .. the English did similar at the same time roughly with many Scots , tried to transport vast amounts of Scottish and irish to the colonies in the Caribbean , and failed , realising they didnt have the transport to do so and how long it would take , and in the irish case , basically set up a reservation west of the Shannon river as you can see fro the map set aside for native irish , with a fee of £5 per head of any native irishman caught east of the Shannon on stolen English land. |

Putin tells them the same fantasy reasons why he is justified in invading Ukraine , as vinny is told why the British are justified in keeping their Celtic and non Celtic colonies. On top of that , when the west is largely ignoring events in Gaza , or the UK and The USA is violating UN orders to vacate and hand back the chagos islands to the chagossians , they are empowering Putin with their actions to his own people. It was only the other day the Russian foreign ministry had pleaded with the British government to stop batoning innocent British protestors ( race riots) and respect the right of innocent British civilians to assemble and protest . Starmer is being labelled a tinpot dictator outside the non western world , while we do the same with the Russian and Chinese leaders. Its sad , and until the day comes we respect each other , and each others nations , instead of self interest and ignorance , Ukraine , Gaza , Iran , just like ireland and many other places historically and today will keep on happening. |

Indeed, when we discussed the NI border poll on here in threads people kept assuring me it's best they not be polled IIRC, talk about ignoring democracy? But when has Starmer ever embraced it As an aside, you know I'm interested in history all across the world, but I was reading a bit about Dunskey castle as it just struck me visually - there's something about that iconic image of it with the large part missing from the most photo'd angle It's amazing how much more history is preserved in Scotland than in England, so much has been destroyed across large parts of England to make way for new developments with almost 0 regard for the historic value. We are not proud of past wrongs and teach our children not to repeat history.
Russia has attacked and massacred hundreds of thousands of civilians in our era.
The present can be changed and Putin is alive.
His empire is imploding.
Russia is hostage to his crimes.
Ukraine, Chechnya, Syria and Georgia have been attacked by him.
Putin needs to be defeated then Russia can topple him.

The only way to defeat him is by cutting off his logistics, destroying his airfields, destroying his warehouses, destroying bowsers and refineries, causing his military to run out of fuel.
Ukraine have forced him to divert armour from Donbas, that's a good thing. But now Ukraine need to circle round and attack the occupiers of Donbas from the rear. Put the invaders backs to their own minefields.

Oddly enough, their military strategy seems to have worked well so far and they have rebuffed Russia, while the RoW thought they'd fall at the first hurdle, despite the interventions from many an armchair general around the world ..... |
