And you feel Borg0 needs blocking. Not much of an argument here Steve. Way to ignore the torrent of trolling that preceded it

No A lie exists at the point of utterance or writing. And anyway Borg is posting crap. He simply cannot read plain English. Full Fact don't say it's a lie, they say it's questionable and they clearly don't say he repeated it. Full fact say the figure is too high and asked Sir Kier to give them information on how it was calculated. He has not done so. So if I say average earnings in this country are £35,000 per annum and you say that figure is too high and ask me for evidence to support my claim. So long as I refuse to answer I'm not lying? Exactly A lie is an act of commission not an act of omission. It requires the concious decision to try to deceive.

Your repeated claim of the same thing despite what was presented to you, leading to ever more exacting questions, leading to you telling the other party they needed to go to spec savers because they couldn't see what you did.

Just because you don't like the truth doesn't make your account real. I know what a lie is and the Oxford English Dictionary agrees with me (others are available) and Full Fact did not say Starmer was knowingly saying something he knew to be true.

I asked you a simple question. "For clarity Steve. If someone says something they believe is true, is then told its not true, but refuses to correct what they said. Is that lying or not?" Maybe your answer to this will be different to mine. To me it makes them a liar by omission.

Farage has high ratings in the fame dept and is rated at the top of the 'most popular politician & political figures' in YouGov rankings, which is not saying much at just 33% so it's understandable that Avon thought he was rated the most popular politician, I admit it is a little confusing reading it yougov.co.uk/ratings/politics/popularity/politicians-political-figures/allFor reference, YouGov's co-owner and CEO is a guy who is intimately tied to the Tories and ran as a Tory candidate, I remember discussing this with Affa elsewhere many years ago and pointing out I really don't trust YouGov when it comes to ranking the Tories en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_ShakespeareIts other co-owner was Nadhim Zahawi (IIRC he left in 2010 to focus on his Tory MP political career), draw your own conclusions.. Boris 2nd, Farage 1st - please pull the other one - don't believe a word

Look a lie is a deliberate act intending to deceive. It's evil and it's why calling someone a liar is a significant thing.
Applying it to someone who made a comment in good faith and hasn't actually been proven wrong on it yet is just wrong.

If Starmer made up a crazy number to get himself elected, then its a lie. If Starmer was given the figures and repeated them in good faith it isn't. Until that is, someone pointed out those figures were wrong and he decided to keep quiet.

No someone pointed out that they thought they were almost certainly wrong Ok so once someone has told him that continuing to say it isn't a lie but it's not honest. So does dishonest work rather than calling him a liar?

No someone pointed out that they thought they were almost certainly wrong Full fact pointed out that they thought they were almost certainly wrong. And asked for their calculations. Ooh yes that bit.
