. . .And you also appear to be labouring under the illusion that making it illegal actually stops anybody. It doesn't. . . . In my experience it doesnt stop anybody who wants to smoke it. Or are you going to call me a liar again? A few people who never had any intention of smoking it might try it if it were legal but that is not the same thing. Can you not understand my words properly?

On the other hand let's just settle for thinking each other is a twat and be done with it.

I am honouring my promise to Zany
Update for clarification: I made a promise to Zany that for now prevents me point refuting a number of the accusations above.

I am honouring my promise to Zany Well perhaps the best thing we can do is block each other. I already regret unblocking you.

Alcohol is easy to detect, anyone with a nose can detect someone pissed so easily. Cannabis very much not so So BIG difference You ever smelt cannabis? Its stinks to hell.

Anyway I would support the idea that cannabis intoxication should be treated the same as alcohol. I also agree with others that if cannabis was supplied over the counter it could reduce the risk of super strength ones and their long term risks. Against the idea: I see how vaping has got out of control after being seen as a panacea for smoking.

I suspect cannabis cake eating has become far far more common once it was known that the police can and will test for body levels of THC in drivers as such means they can't smell it on the clothes and hair of the offender.
Alcohol on the breath is very very detectable

Alcohol on the breath is very very detectable Most people pulled over for drink driving are done so on observation. My police man mate (retired now) swore he could recognise a drink driver pretty much every time after following them for less than a minute.

The key thing though is to stop someone unfit getting behind the drivers seat in the first place. And as I say someone with too much alcohol on board will be obvious to anyone they interact with. Someone on Cannabis less likely so

No but friends smelling alcohol on someone's breath take the keys off them, same drivers know if the police stop them they will know instantly etc etc

But it virtually never happens with drinkers or drug users. The big difference between the two in my limited experience is that cannabis smokers seem to do it in the cars while driving along. The number of times I've followed cars that stink of skunk.

So you're still forgetting that cannabis can be and often is taken orally and very much would be by someone determined to hide their use. I know of no stats on how many times friends stop a drunk driving not of how many times a would be drunk doesn't even try it because they know their friends know.
Fact is significant alcohol use is always readily detectable but significant cannabis use can be very hard to detect until it's too late
