Police very rarely intercept a drunk intended driver before he has started driving Steve. . . Well no shit Sherlock Dappy As was clear when I first made this point, I'm referring to friends and colleagues etc and of course bar staff intervening to get Mr/Ms Stinks of Booze not to get in the car. If you meant friends and family Steve, it was an odd thing to mention the police in your post…. Friends and family are likely to be more aware of drink from having been with them and watching them drink than by smelling booze on their breath. With respect I’d stop digging now.

Not odd at all. I was responding using two SEPARATE paragraphs to two SEPARATE points in MrBenn's post.
And if you think I'm digging feel free to refute EITHER point I made. Won't hold my breath.

I'm referring to stopping them getting in the drivers seat in the first place. And I say again: the police cannot smell cannabis taken orally Almost all drink drivers are caught in the act of driving, not beforehand. All the more so since until they have gotten behind a wheel they have committed no offense. Your desperate arguments to try and pretend that you are not engaging in an emotionally driven double standard are logically feeble in the extreme. This forum is full of logical reasoning people. The fact that most of us disagree with you and find your arguments logically feeble and emotionally driven should perhaps be a clue that maybe you are wrong on this one?

Has it not occurred to you that this happens in a law abiding setting? And that legal purveyors of cannabis would be much more likely to do the same with stoned people than criminals are. Rarely have I seen an intelligent person reduced to such pitiful arguments in defence of a logically dubious, emotionally driven argument with the application of such an obvious and glaring double standard.

Do you need evidence for the logically obvious fact that most drunk drivers are caught whilst driving? The clue is in the word "drivers". If they are not driving they are not breaking the law. Seriously, this is getting pathetic now and you risk making a fool of yourself.

Evidence please to show that that is anything other than a guess Logic. Most cars are pulled over and then the drivers breathalysed. Most that end in prosecution. Your pretence that no one ever takes the keys off someone before they drive is noted. Awkwardly it's actually very common. A case reported just yesterday
