Search me! I'm not aware that anyone made such a statement. Pretty much everyone here is still a member of the other site and several of us still post there occasionally. We are perfectly entitled to give our opinions on how it is run. We've all put a lot of time and effort into contributing to it since it was set up. That's where our right to criticise comes from. We're not just some bitchy newbie with little to contribute apart from complaints. |

Being an idiot isn't a crime. Supporting Trump isn't a crime. It often is. Over a thousand Trump supporters found guilty of serious offences on Jan 6th. Many of Trump's political appointees and lawyers struck off or serving prison sentences. You've already seen me condemn the 6th January rioters. But we're not talking about the 6th Jan thugs, we are talking about a bunch of delusional morons who were out in a field to hear Trump talk bollocks. One of those morons who was there peacefully took a bullet for Trump and died. Murder is murder and that moron was murdered. |

Many of the attendees at Trump rallies proudly proclaim they were at the Capitol on Jan 6th. No doubt they would also tell you they would take a bullet for Trump. It's a personality cult. I really fear for the USA and the world. I think he may even be starting to believe he's the messiah now. He's seen that the courts can't stop him. The secret documents case was clear cut but his bent judge just threw it out. Covid couldn't kill him when people were dropping like flies and now God has saved him from the assassin's bullet. He's going to think he can do anything. It's a really dangerous situation. Ukraine is truly fucked and NATO itself may be damaged. On top of all that he's pandering to the Evangelicals who are actively pushing for Armageddon in order to facilitate the second coming of Christ. How did we get here? It's like we have regressed to medieval thinking. |

Assassinating arseholes isn't the way to do politics.
Arguing against them, voting against them, prosecuting criminals, that's the way to do politics.
The USA is a democracy, it is not a dictatorship like Russia.

I very much doubt that and even if it was true it does not in any way mean the violent death of a man that did not so proclaim is anything other than a crime and a tragedy. This is the America the right have created. One where a 20 year old kid with untreated mental illness can get hold of a military style rifle and take pot shots at the ex-President. An America where the leading cause of death for children is being shot. An America where the Republican choice for VP is putting the blame for this shooting on 'Democrat rhetoric' before the body is even cold. An America where the crowd at the Republican National Congress are chanting 'Fight, fight, fight'. |

The USA does not have a left, it has a centre right and an insane right.
Americans need to replace the 2nd Amendment with a new "cold dead hands" amendment for a licence system.
Many will object of course, because those who should not have a licence demand guns, because they're nutters.
Send a licence application form to everyone on the American electoral register.
Then raid the homes of everyone who does not apply and take their guns.
Shoot anyone who puts up armed resistance and attempts to kill the Police.
That way there'll be less chance of another assassination attempt.

I just don't think anyone at a Trump rally is truly innocent. Contempt for the conmen, compassion for the conned — like with Brexit, Covid, NHS, etc, lies and misinformation are often difficult for us ordinary citizens to unravel from truth and half-truth. The US is a more violent country than the UK. But is most of the population to blame? Or are special interest and lobbying groups, such as the NRA, responsible for exerting most influence on US political parties and courts…? |
