On the other forum Climate change became impossible to discuss as every post was drowned in claims that its fake and only Bumburgs are stupid enough to believe it.
But I think on here we might be able to discuss it. Not just whether its happening but how it will effect the UK.
Scientists are warning that despite the enormous amount of rain we have had we face a drought this summer.
My first statement is we have left it too late to stop AGW affecting us. My first question is do we need to borrow even more money to build reservoirs and save our crop yields from failing and our towns from flooding?

A stitch in time saves nine. Money will have to be spent to mitigate against the consequences of climate change and money spent now may well be better value than waiting. The Thames flood barrier is a good example of this. Not originally designed because of GW, never the less, without it London could have flooded more than 200 times.

We have already passed the point where we can stop serious climate change. All we can hope to do now is mitigate and limit how bad it is going to be.
Our entire civilisation has been built upon largely stable climatic conditions creating the perfect conditions for reliable agriculture. But much of the food we eat is derived from or is itself fed from maybe just half a dozen staple products, eg things like wheat, maize, and rice.
Global climate instability could potentially result in the collapse of these staple products on a global scale. If that happens we could see global famine, with billions starving, and countries going to war over precious food resources. Those countries with populations far too large to feed themselves without food imports are likely to be in big trouble. That includes us
