Anyone else think it's a bit strange to be awarding knighthoods in this day and age?
I watched a Youtube interview with Sir Oswald Mosley the other other day. How the hell did he end up with a knighthood?
I'm not at all opposed to recognition for contributions to society. But surely there's a less ... erm... feudal way.

At it's best the honours system is a reward for hard working citizens who go above and beyond but at its worse it is a corrupt system of cronyism.

When you look at the Lords its full of highly specialised individuals.

Honours system seems OK. It seems a cost-effective way of recognizing acts, deeds, or efforts that do some good. I'd reform it to raise the level of what qualifies people for honours.
House of Lords is different. Can't say I'm 100% behind making it an elected chamber — how members are selected should be detached from general elections. I can see the positives of an upper age limit (in both houses)...
