Ten posts like that is not what this forum needs if you want to grow it.

Ten posts like that is not what this forum needs if you want to grow it. Ten polite posts asking good faith questions about the future of the forum isn't what the forum needs? How did you come to that strange conclusion?

Yet we respect each other. I think you and I respect each other too, bot Orac has zero respect for me, for which reason the feeling is mutual. I think my opinions rub him up the wrong way too much, he has long since convinced himself that people who think like me are idiots, so his inability to clearly demonstrate this to be so in debate brings out the worst in him. And any negativity from anyone including him towards me brings out the worst in me in response. Am still here because I have decided not to make any hasty decisions but I may well leave, and almost certainly will if Zany ceases to be a mod. But Orac asked me to be mod, maybe specifically because he knew I am more focused on fair than win. Who knows. For myself I respect anyone who attempts to argue coherently whatever their views.

How did you come to that strange conclusion? I give up, you are never going to understand. And answering that question just makes things worse. I made my point, you don't like it, move on.

I disagree Steve, members must have their say. I have known for a long time Monte and Saint find my modding to harsh and that Mote would like to have been given the ability to counter that harshness. The problem lies not with them but the inability of sites to be run in the way they describe. We move from site to site leaving each one trashed behind us, yet in mirror of the human race we never seem to learn anything. Monte and Saint want Narnia. A site both open to abuse and free of abuse. For myself I will gladly stand down and watch them achieve it. See you on the next site that replaces this one.

Take a look at this thread: ukopenpolitical.freeforums.net/thread/378/feeling-rudderless-againPerhaps Wapentake's post wasn't what you would consider ideal, but I would suggest that it was far from deserving of green ink. You replied with: Please don't bring this type of one line rubbish to this forum.' That seems a little ott in the circumstances. Nobody wants you to step down. All you're hearing is polite requests to curb your zeal a bit. Edit: attached incorrect link

You replied with: Please don't bring this type of one line rubbish to this forum.' That seems a little ott in the circumstances. Nobody wants you to step down. All you're hearing is polite requests to curb your zeal a bit. Depends on how you see the green ink. Order or advice. Nudge or push. Fact is I don't think Wapentake left because of the green writing, but because he felt he couldn't behave as he desired, which was true. How do I let him behave as he desires without allowing the usual squabbles turn to nasty and await the arrival of the Trolls. How long before B4 turns up backing every nasty comment and then claiming they are a victim of fascism. I say good luck finding that Narnia. The particular Green cited might have been a little harsh, but it was also off the back of seeing Wapentake destroy two threads by making a claim that wound people up and then spending pages and pages word dancing to claim he never said it. Anyway, you will surely do better so please PM Orac.

No forum could hope to thrive under that level of censorship. I repeat, nobody wants to see you step down, only that you use your powers a little more sparingly.

I mourn that you were unable to use the PM function to make that point FWIW I know of several forums that very much have much higher levels of censorship and have many many members.

How is it possible to have higher censorship that? Show me an example. Just look at the professionally moderated forums. Money Saving Expert, BT, Sky, Mercedes etc etc run them and they have loads of members.
