Read in a reoort by Civitas a right wing report that 50%of prisioners are not violent offenders . But repeat offenders. There where we Could start by realise these prisoners early. Could these move to house arrest. |

You replied to the post about the Isle of Wight prison housing sex offenders saying most prisoners aren't violent offenders, then he responded to that saying they should be in house arrest - now you're saying they should be put on tag. Bad idea, they will abscond and go and rape kids in Rochdale etc |

But repeat offenders.Yes tagged, but also house bound. Food deliveries weekly (Prison food) Limited TV, no mobile or internet. If you leave the house your tag sirens constantly for the next 8 hours until its battery dies. If you remove your tag a very heavy prison sentence. If you fail to charge or replace your tag battery it reports to the authorities. There is obviously a cost here, but cheaper than prison. |

I'm not a great fan of the Daily Mail reporting. I suspect these "Foreign criminals" are unprocessed illegal migrants. Rather than axe murderers. |

It depends doesn't it, if they're extreme fraudsters who con old ladies out of their pensions, are they really any better than non-violent offenders? Non-violent offenders could also include those who have consensual sex with kids (not that a kid really can consent, of course), no violence but still an extreme threat to society Needs more clarity |
