So it appears that the new posting trend (I suspect because not being on the “other site” some people are missing people to feel superior to so much that they need to make them up to fill the deep yearning chasm of virtue signalling((I know it’s not virtue signalling but I am just being lazy)) is to post something you don’t agree with and then mock the thing you just posted in as smug and self righteous way as possible…(probably in the misguided belief that this is somehow witty) I’ll have aa go but in this regard I’m a self confessed amateur.
An unconcerned citizen (aka Thicky McThickface although his mate Bigot McBigotface also agrees with him)
It seems to me that the world has gone mad with no one accepting the incontrovertible truth that West Bromwich Albion are in fact the greatest football team there has ever been and ever will be |

We're living in the era of Two Tier Keir, and it's surely therefore somewhat apt to witness a bit of wallowing and luxuriating in their 'hand picked' status, even if the great and the good of the Forum haven't quite yet beet kitted out by Lord Ali. As long as those of us in the cheap seats don't get ideas above our station we should continue to be tolerated.  But onto more important matters, and I can't agree that Albion are, or are ever likely to be the greatest team. What they could have been with a bit more foresight, is the greatest club ! And I base that wholly on their woeful lack of interest in capitalising on their Tour of China in 1978. West Brom were in a unique position to already have the contacts ripe for exploitation as China grew into a world economic superpower. The Beijing branch of the Baggies Fan Club could today have had more than a billion members ...... the West Bromwich area could have been granted BRICS membership in its own right ........ leaving the rest of the UK looking on enviously ....... and as long as Vinny didn't persuade NATO to bomb The Hawthorns, the sky would have been the limit as far as what the club and the team could have achieved. As it was, Albion officials and players couldn't wait to kick the Great Wall into touch and to get back to the Black Country pubs and their Smethwick semi-detached. Albion might rise again, but that chance of World club football domination has gone forever. |
