YouGov: Sharp drop in UK Government’s approval rating
THE UK Labour government has seen a sharp drop in approval ratings in the past few weeks, according to YouGov polling.
According to YouGov’s government approval tracker, the latest figures, published on August 19, show that 47% of people disapprove of the UK Government while just 26% approve...
…According to the Twitter/X account Stats for Lefties, one of the main reasons for the drop is a “collapse in support amongst over-65s”.

I posted this in andrew's thread and was reassured it doesn't matter and is perfectly normal

I posted this in andrew's thread and was reassured it doesn't matter and is perfectly normal I wonder how long the turd polishing about labour will last? "at least they aren't the tories" " they have inherited difficult circumstances" "keir will solve the uks ills " Getting rid of the winter fuel allowance during an energy crises isnt the smartest of political moves. the labour luvvies will all tell us though its a small part of a wider starmer plan to fix all the ills of the uk , which is to do with the tories and nothing else. My own energy bills are currently double per month what they were three years ago , (at one point they were treble) . Last time I looked on switching sites like u switch , or Martin lewis money saving expert site , I could save a grand total of £49 per year on a two half grand annual energy bill. It's fucking laughable. I personally think it a really bad move that may turn round and bite labour , especially if we have a bad winter. Long may the political misjudgements of labour keep happening though.

My bare-bones grocery bill here in America is over 2x what it would have been in England, yet utilities here are a lot cheaper so whereever you go in the West, the same problems are biting people on the butt thanks to incompetent governance and the Ukraine crisis/other global crises Imagine being told you're doing great and the country is doing great when filling up your car costs a fortune and groceries cost a fortune and corporations are ripping people off left right and centre? The likes of Labour and Democrats just love gaslighting people, like you said, at least Tories and others stab you in the front ...

Starmer has come into power , on a third of the vote cast , with the message things are shite , and that they cant even guarantee they will improve medium term. How can messaging like this help labour? Were things all fine and dandy after 17 years of tories when blair took over? of course they weren' t. Blair though had his ideas , however ill thought through , starmer meanwhile seems clueless what to do. He is an expert at sitting on his hands and carping form the sidelines , but when forced into making a move , as we have seen , tends to be very weak with no long term strategic thought . winter fuel payment latest in long line of poorly thought out decisions. Im reading labours big problem is skilled migration shortage , which is badly impacting the economy , and due to get worse as starmer mimics the tories tough immigration message. but hey!!!! trump is bad. Ukraine. Putin. is bad. Iran evil. Oh look....theres a squirrel. I expect a starmer u turn this winter if things are bad. knee jerk anti strategic thought with policy made up on the hoof .........thats our centrist Labour Party.

But les concerned about mortgage rates. What a surprise. thats nothing but a diversion again zany. Mortgage rates are still well under the long term average despite the recent increases . Im just about to remortgage myself and have got another great deal , even though it's a small increase on my monthly payments. energy costs though are the highest they have been in living memory .

Around three hundred thousand Scottish pensioners are predicted to be worse off by starmer" not getting rid of the winter fuel allowance" Like I said , an idiotic political strategy , in the midst of an energy crises.

By poor attempts, I assume you mean correcting your lie that Labour had scrapped the WFA. Around 300,000 out of 1,100,000 will be a little worse off, the vast majority earning plenty enough not to need this universal payment. A more accurate description than Starmer scrapping the Winter Fuel Allowance.

I said it would badly affect 300 000 Scottish pensioners , before you even factor in millions of English and Welsh uk wide. however you try futilely to spin it , this is going to have large repercussions on the starmer government.

Contrast that with scotland , where we make 113% of our energy from renewable sources , but have the highest energy prices in Europe , as part of the broad shoulders of the uk . it really would be laughable if it wasnt so sad and serious.

And sending it to England IIRC? Isn't Scotland set to net send energy to England to keep the power on??
