No they are not banning smoky bacon crisps. They are banning the most used flavourings used to make such because they are either known to be unsafe or are probably so. I can supply you some paraquat flavoured crisps if you want to eat high risk foods

It is curious how the people most strongly for Brexit because of what the EU did, remain the ones most easily triggered by what the EU does, in spite of us no longer being in it. Why should we even care about rules that dont affect us anyway?
Besides, banning unsafe flavourings - a very different thing from banning actual flavours - makes sense, so if they want to do that why should any of us worry about it?

I remember, back in the day, butchers used to add saltpetre to their minced products to enhance their shelf life, the UK government banned this practice along with many others on health and safety grounds.

First they came for our smoky bacon crisps and I said nothing because I don't like smoky bacon.
Then they came for salt and vinegar crisps and I said nothing because I don't like salt and vinegar.
Next they came for cheese and onion, and I remained silent because I dont like cheese and onion.
But when they came for my beloved plain crisps there was no one left to speak up for me because their favourite flavours had already been banned.
Today they seek to deprive us of our smoky bacon crisps. If we let this go today, tomorrow they will start putting us all in concentration camps.
First they will come for your crisps. Then they will come for you.

I'm looking for an investor for my new business plan: smoky bacon crisps in asbestos bags! We'll corner the gammon crisp market!

Poor form by Vinny to make a highly questionable OP and then run away from the forum
It's obvious he knew it was false and couldn't bear seeing it exposed as such

Er, what? I linked to the EU site itself.
They are banning smoke flavours. Not good news for smoked cheese manufacturers either. And we import smoked cheeses from the EU.
They are banning things out of extreme caution, but not banning tobacco or vaping I notice.

It isn't much of a charge to say that they're not banning tobacco. Sure, they could save more lives, but the fact that they're moving to save lives in this instance is hardly something to be criticised.

Mrs enjoys smoked seafood and cheese prepared in a smoke house…

Your link is earlier than mine. Mine is the latest news. And basically any form of testing which involves feeding rats a shitload of stuff until they die, is not necessarily evidence of threat to humans. If I fed you enough salt you'd die. Should we ban salt? I don't think so. If forced you to drink a huge amount of vodka, you'd probably die if you weren't so violently sick first that it got rid of the poison. Ban vodka?
I question their reasoning and their methods. Plus, if they were going to ban something on proven health grounds rather than possible, then why haven't they banned tobacco?
Whatever happened to informed personal choice?

But he is dead right, they have not banned the flavour, just the use of poisons.
You appear to be saying that we must allow people to be poisoned if that's the only way a flavour can be delivered. How bizarre.
