Trump needs to spend a very long time in jail. Trump would be nothing were it not for the mindless support of millions of idiots. They are in the end the ultimate source of his power. The stupidification of electorates in this internet age represents an existential threat to democracy itself. Some thought the internet would be a vehicle for spreading wisdom, sadly it has become far more the tool for spreading stupidity and the lies of snakeoilers like Trump.

I must admit that in earlier years I thought the internet would be more of an informational positive, as it undermined the control the wealthy elites had over the thinking of idiots with their Suns, Mails, and Expresses. I rather naively hoped in a greater plurality of views and information and a better informed public. Sadly my optimism has proven itself to be naïve thus far. Because the kind of idiots willing to subcontract their thinking and emoting out to the the likes of the Sun or Mail, are just as likely to do the same with any old shit on the internet. And whilst newspapers can and do have certain limits to the degree of bullshit they can get away with, such limits barely exist on the internet, flooded as it is with utterly false information and accounts of events and situations that never even happened. Much of this is being pumped out by extremists of one kind or another, conspiracy theorists of every kind, and enemy states who have, for example, a vested interest in the undermining of democracy and support for people like Trump. Far from being the solution to the elitists' control of the narrative, the internet is proving to be a conspiracy theorists' dream and playground. Its tendency to act as an echo chamber just maximises this. The minute anyone starts believing in something slightly dodgy after reading a couple of things they find interesting on the internet, they start getting bombarded with similar stuff from people believing in similar things, all reinforcing each others' delusions and radicalising each other ever more. They soon become convinced that they are right and everyone else from learned scientists and academics, to historians and philosophers are wrong, as they all buy into an utterly fake reality. Without for a moment realising they are being played by someone who might well have neither their own nor their country's best interests at heart.
