Interesting. Since in my younger days I used to read a lot of science fiction, I typed in one of my favourite authors from back then just to see what happened. Isaak Asimov. And it threw up a whole load of other mostly sci fi writers, some of which - eg Greg Bear and HG Wells - were either writers I have also read or had otherwise already heard of but there were plenty of others to try if I decided to read science fiction again. Since I am currently re-reading a two volume biography of Adolf Hitler by Ian Kershaw, I decided to type that author's name to see if it works for non-fiction writers. And it does! A whole load of other modern history writers, especially those known for writing about WW2 or the Third Reich, like James Holland and William Shirer. Looks like being a very useful tool.

Having looked around at authors I like. It seems to lean more towards authors of the same subject matter rather than the same writing style.
The lost fleet by Jack Campbell, about clever tactics in a space war. (Good series)
Matches BV Larson famous for "undying mercenaries"
A series of 20 books of never ending shoot em ups.
Still it will be useful as the start of a search for something new.
